I have 10 year old XPS 15 L502X, which is currently not behaving well. Its screen flickers a lot. It sometimes gives three bips which points to memory errors. And sometimes works just well!!!
Full configuration can be found here: https://valid.x86.fr/h8irya
I am thinking to reuse its components, at least 16 GB DDR3 RAM and SATA3 SSD, if not the processor (let me know if I can reuse the processor too somehow)
After knowing that no manufacture build motherboard to support all, I searched a bit and came across this Gigabyte minipc. It says it supports DDR3L SODIMM and SATA3, so I was thinking if I can reuse both XPS 15 RAM SODIMMs and SSD in it to create a kind of cheap central storage system and media server.

SATA drives are universal. All you're really saving is the RAM.

So RAM will surely work? I have DDR3 SODIMMs, but this minipc seems to support DDR3L. Is that fine?

Also one just odd question. Will this configuration be enough to work as media center pc? Mainly for central storage and playing videos / casting on same network?
