I have 120 GB ssd which I want to format and reinstall windows
also I have 2 TB green WD which I have a folder in it called media
all of my videos and movies etc

before the format and clean instal of windows
if I unplugged the 2 tb wd drive from the power
and pluged it again after the instal of windows
will windows ask me to format the drive and so I will lose all of my data ?
also does that make my new windows slow because I did not format my 2 tb green drive ?

Solution

It should not ask you to format the drive again.
And it should remain the "D" drive. If it becomes something else, just go into Disk Management and change it.
So long as the other drive is not formatted, it will still be usable so long as you are just using it as a storage drive such as yours. You do not need to plug it out, however, if it makes you feel more safe not to delete your partition when reinstalling windows, feel free.

Installing games on the HDD is fine. I would not choose a WD Green for games (or applications), but it won't slow down your overall install.
