I just bought Asiahorse extension cables and my motherboard allows 8+4 pin EPS but the extension is 8 and 8 pin. Can I plug in all 8 to extension for the 4 pin and just leave the other 4 pin sitting unplugged? Or should I only plug in 4 pin to extension and leave the 4 pin extension unplugged?

Solution
Yes and no. Depending on the motherboard and cpu. Some motherboards demand a 4+4+4 for a 9900k or better, some don't, only requiring the 4+4, same goes for the 5900x/5950x. Applies to cpus as well, they might demand use of a 4+4+4 if heavily OC'd, with restrictions to clock speeds if just supplied by a 4+4.

So things will need to be done on a case by case basis, there's no hard and fast rule that says yes or no for sure.
