i got the g.skill 4db ddr3 (2x2) ram in my pc. I set the frequency in bios to 1600mhz , and the timins to 8-8-8-24 (on the ram it says 9-9-9-24).

Any better timings i can try for better performance? Also , is my ram correctly set up from my bios with these settings ?

First, what do you want to do with the RAM to get "better performance"?

With DDR3 RAM - setting slightly tighter timings won't give much benefit. Your true "performance" is the combined effort of your CPU, RAM, and GPU and HDD/SSD.

Basically I would keep your settings as is as long as you don't have issues, as you would probably receive ~1 maybe 2% performance gain from tighter timings.

So these 8-8-8-24 timings are pretty decent for performance aye ? What's the difference between 1333,1600 and 2000hz frequecy ? I chose the 1600mhz.

Yes those timings are pretty good.

The frequency basically allows more bandwidth to the RAM. However the bandwidth of DDR3 is quite high to begin with so having a higher frequency doesn't necessarily mean a faster computer.

Imagine your computer as a lake - and the RAM as a Dam. Say the dam has 13/16/20 openings to let more "water" (information) pass through, however the lake (your computer) can only fill anywhere from 13 to 16 openings on the DAM at a time, even though you have more openings.

Just trying to give a layman's term for the RAM, maybe it's not the best but I tried.

Yep , i understood , thanks :) Whats the reason my pc wasnt booting with a 8gb of ram ? (4x2) When windows starts booting , it restarts again.

Is this a new issue? I thought your 8GB of ram was working fine? Or do you mean 4 sticks of 2GB for a total of 8GB for your previous RAM? Some motherboards do not like all of the DIMM slots (RAM slots) being filled up completely - and if they are all different sticks (manufacturers, models), it can cause problems as well.

If it isn't - try loosing up the timings a bit back to 9's instead of 8's. Even though your RAM may be capable of 9 timings - sometimes a looser timing will correct RAM issues.

The frequency and timings i mentioned are for my current 4gb (2x2) .... My pc wasnt booting when i removed my current ram and tried my brothers 8gb (4x2).

What Dram (model # of the 2x4GB or 4x2GB), mobo and CPU, it possible they were set up right, could be the BIOS isn't up to date or the BIOS isn't updated for the set, could be the mobo can't use the sticks (if 4GB) could be a lot of things, with more info can provide a better answer (hopfully 😉 )
