Hello friends, I have a core 2 duo1.86 GHZ Processor with DDR 2 board (Intel 6300), having 4 GB of Rams. I just want to know that can i install a suitable Graphics Card on it? And what would be an ideal graphics card to install? My email id is saboorali67@gmail.com, i know that my computer is not up to the mark but i doesn`t want to spent much by purchasing a new one.. I want to play games like Resident Evil (all versions), Outlast, Prototype etc

Solution
I would look for an older used card like a GTX 650 Ti or something. A lot of the new GPUs don't play nice with old motherboards and their legacy BIOS. Just make sure you have a PCI-E x16 slot and an adequate enough power supply.
it depends on your motherboard actually, if your motherboard have PCIe ports not AGP, of course you can, it might be bottlenecking your system. but i think you can play those game with good GPU

Hi Sms67. i know you dont wanna buy a new pc but i am sorry to say, that pc dont add up to the minimum spec for anny of thoes games.

dont know what moderboard you have so cant tell what gpu will be good.

here is the minimum specs for OUTLAST to take that as an example

OS: Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8 - 64 bits *
Processor: 2.2 GHz Dual Core CPU
Minne: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: 512 MB NVIDIA GeForce 9800GTX / ATI Radeon HD 3xxx series
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 5 GB available space

hope you find an awnser. - Jahnaage

hi jeffredo thanks for the kind reply and also to other friends those replied to my concern query. Yes i do have a PCI-E 16 slot, but dont know much about the accuracy of power supply you mentioned.. i searched on net about the Graphics card and u found a card ATI Radeon HD 4670 (Asus), which looked good regarding the specs of it and for the games i wanna play. Looking forward to buy this today

I was using core 2 duo 3.0Ghz and i installed a R9 270X Toxic Edition. The card was bottle necking. It was only giving 50 to 60% performance. Now i ve installed a core 2 quad. Its performing very good and no bottleneck except for very bad optimized games AC syndicate. So i would recommend same as what @jeffredo said to go for a lower graphic card.

I went to buy ATI HD 4670 but ended up purchased Yesterday ATI Radeon E4690 (Impressive), and am very much happy with its performance..it played RE Operation Raccoon, RE Revelations quite well. Totally matching up the CPU with that GPU..no lagging while playing the mages mentioned up after changing the games graphics with slightly low resolutions.. Cheers (Thanks lot for all the replies i received) This website is very helpful.
