Hi.
I have HP ProBook 4330s with i3 2330M proccesor. I want to upgrade it to i7. I know that officially supported i7 proccesor is i7 2620M but i want quad core. I have been thinking about i7 2760QM. Have someone upgraded to this proccesor ? Or do you think it will work ?

Thanks

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

I actually refurbished my little brother's laptop, which is an HP ProBook 4430s, it came with an i3-2310M, with more ram and an SSD using an additional drive caddy. If you look through the manual for the laptop, here, page 1, sadly you can't look into any processor that's got a 45W TDP due to the limitation of the cooling on said laptop. If anything look into the 35W TDP i7-2620M but please make sure you've got the latest BIOS version installed on the laptop prior to performing the procesor upgrade. Please be wary that the BIOS also has a whitelist of hardware meaning if you don't use the right CPU you could end up with a black screen or no POST(beep errors).

Yes i have the newest bios. (2018)
The cooling system on this laptop is perfect and the i7 makes less heat than the i3.
But some users installed quad core i7s and it worked fine.

Or here on user benchmark you can see quad core cpus-

What do you think ?

Looks like a "maybe". The 2760QM is a 45w TDP CPU and may run too hot for the rest of the components, if at all.

Thank you. I questioned some other people and they said that the chip itself is preety cool, even cooler than the i3. Their motherboards weren't hot either so i will give it a shot.
