can I leave sata cables disconected

Ok quick question

Building my first pc.
still waiting on my ssd drive. Will take a month to arrive.

Can I complete build But conect a sata cable to motherboard and leave cable disconnected in the case for ease when the ssd arrives??

What you think??

i always leave them plugged into my motherboard then plug in ssd`s if needed. For hot swapping and such.

edit: leave also a sata power connector in place for it

Thanks guys puts my mind at rest. So just to confirm I can conect up some spare ones to my motherboard and leave the free end of them in my hard drive trays for when I need to add new hds?
