So I don't want to go back to windows 8, nor can I, but I really find windows 10 ugly.

I liked the lockscreen art from windows 8 and im trying to install that back, but I miss the charms bar, I don't like the action center, and yeah.

In windows 8 the colors were perfect, everything was either white, colorless, or a color that you selected. The difference between apps and software was clear. There was no transparent grey at the startmenu or black tabs bar. It was the color you selected.

To me, windows 8 was perfect. The reason I got windows 10 was because I thought I will have to upgrade eventually. And I feel like I don't want to be using something outdated and there was a lot of hype.

So, a few weeks ago I saw my friend's computer and it had something installed that gave them a windows 7 like start menu on windows 8, sortof like the one we see now in windows 10.

Like a mod.

Are there any mods that can give the look and feel of windows 8? Just in windows 10?

Thanks!

Yes, you can. In multiple ways. I, personally, use Classic Shell to stimulate Windows 7. I came here because I wondered if there WAS another way other than the full screen start. And there is. If you don't know how to use the Start Full Screen, go to Settings, Personalization, Start, Use Start Full Screen. Here you can also remove some of the blacks you don't seem to like.

If this isn't enough, download Classic Start Menu, but go to Settings-Controls and set everything to open nothing. Then, take a picture, go to Paint, put the word "Start" in the top left corner, and copy-paste "images" of colours onto your desktop. These are the tiles, and when you put the desktop icons on them, it looks more like the tiles and the Start Screen. Last, the start button already does nothing this way. But if you liked it with no start button at all, install Start Killer to kill the "merciless" start button. If you'd rather make this better desktop quicker, you can install Omnimo. The one catch being that you can't pin everything this way.
