Can I Mix A Ryzen CPU With DDR3 Ram

I'm currently trying to upgrade my outdated CPU and i have 2x 8gb kingston ddr3 ram sticks and was thinking of buying a ryzen 3 1200 but i'm reading many things saying these combos wont work can i get an exact answer and possibly some suggestions on what to pick up as a motherboard and ram

no the memory controller built into ryzen cannot handle the high voltages of DDR3. that assumes that the slot would actually fit the stick which it does not.

Actually only Ryzen and Coffee Lake(8th gen) require the use of DDR4. Kaby Lake(7th gen) like Skylake(6th gen) supports DDR3L.

thanks for the update I was uncertain about kaby. you would still need one of the, dare I say it, oddball 1xx series boards with DDR3L slots I have never seen a 2xx series with DDR3L slots.

my budget is around 200 give or take a bit as ill probably sell my old stuff
