Question Can I mix DDR3 1333mhz with 1866 mhz sticks?

Hello! Straight to the point.

I recently got two hyperx ddr3 ram sticks, both 8 gb running at 1866mhz. But I had this BSOD I got whenever I turned off and on the system. Changed the sticks again and it is gone. Apparently, this chinese motherboard only holds up to 1600 mhz sticks. I believe this is what caused the issue.
Now, I don't want to give up on these sticks. I don't want to sell them, especially because, for some reason, cheaper-looking sticks are more expensive than these HyperX ones (yes they are official. The blue Fury ones). So I thought maybe mixing them with my 1333mhz would force them to slow down, thus fixing the issue and leaving me with 20gb of RAM (I looked for a Bios option to set frequencies, but there's nothing). I'd like to add that both are from Hylinx, so maybe that makes them a bit more compatible?
The real question is, however, what's the worst that could happen if I mix them. If I get another BSOD, no problem; already had enough with those new sticks. Getting another one to confirm that they are incompatible wouldn't be a big deal.

My specs are:
i5 2400
1660 ti
Jingsha B75HM motherboard
2 Lexar SSD's, 512GB/1TB

Greetings!

If the motherboard can find compatible tunings during the boot process, which you state you can't set, it 'might' work. I would expect the machine to boot a few times as it tries to find something. Best case would be not to do so since even if it boots the system could experience poor reliability or performance.

Right now my 4 sticks are made of 2 separate sets, one of them being a random chinese brand. I believe that, if my mobo does match them up, the same will happen with the other set.
By poor reliability you mean possible bsods? Because I truly want to try this out, so as to not lose my brand new set.

I did mix them and no issue so far. It works. 20 GB registered and they are all running at the base speed of the old sticks, 1333 MHz. No BSOD and my programs run just fine.
