Can I play game on one monitor while playing a video on another

I have a R9 290 with two monitors.
I tried to run vlc fullscreen on 2nd monitor, and then play game on the 1st monitor.
However as soon as I launch the game, vlc crashed and the video closes.

Is there anyway to play game on 1st monitor and watch video on 2nd monitor?

I typically use Media Player Classic to watch my videos and I have no problems playing a game on one monitor while watching a movie on the other monitor.

Maybe search for an updated graphics driver or newer version of VLC.
