Hello,
I was thinking about buying the new PC game Starcraft 2. I have a suspicion that my laptop can't handle that game...

I was hoping that someone could let me know if these specs are good enough:

(here is a link to the game's requirements: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=26242&locale=en_US)

My specs: 2.5gHz intel core 2 duo processor, 2gb ram, "Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100" (integrated video card...)

any help? thanks a lot

Well the specs do say "128 MB PCIe NVIDIA® GeForce® 6600 GT or ATI Radeon® 9800 PRO video card or better "

I would be very suprised if you could use your X3100 to play even at the most horrible lowest settings.

Found this on a forum:

I have the same exact machine specs except I have a 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo, and I was also in the SC2 beta since mid March. When the Mac beta came out I was eager to try it. I did, and I was disappointed to learn that even with everything on low it ran UNPLAYABLY. I went on the Battle.net Forums to see if the X3100 is supported, and the developers said it is NOT because its chipset is too slow

Your Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 is an really old igp and you are thinking of playing a new game with it.
It will be a miracle if it even starts on your igp so it's better to get a real video card and then go for the kill ...i mean play all the games smoothly.

Some things in the beta were a lot more unfriendly to lower settings/weaker computers than the actual release, I experienced that firsthand. BUT you'll still have some issues, like me.

So I'm really in the same boat you are, laptop with a Dual Core AMD X2, integrated card Nvidia 6100 (just below the reccomended in name, but actually considerably worse card) integrated 256 MB. I can play, on the lowest settings, but with persistent lag. Often in fights, I can't click moving units, always have to drag to select(makes micro-ing a real pain). In 4v4 late game I basically can't do much with all those units running around, like the game just becomes unresponsive, FPS is probably in the single digits. BUT on the other hand, I can still manage a fine game at 2v2 or even sometimes 3v3.

So basically, it won't be pretty, you'll be really really frustrated with how bad it is from time to time, but it will probably run.
