Question can i plug a cable that looks like a 6 pin that goes into cx550f psu to a gpu????pls help

a friend gave me a gigabyte gddr5 2gb gt740 and it requires a 6 pin , i want to plug the gpu into my old pc (the cx 550 f psu is in my new pc) and i dont have a 6 pin psu cable in my old computer,but i have a cable that fits the gpu from the new psu (that normally goes into psu).Is it safe to plug the cable into gpu??

Do not mix modular cables with different model PSU.
Using wrong cable can damage/kill hardware connected.

What model PSU are you using? Can you show a photo of info label printed on PSU?

No. You can't do that. Expect to get your graphics card killed.
