Hi,

I just bought a motherboard, it mentioned that there was two USB I/O ports inside. However, it never mentioned that one of those USB I/O was USB1394.

Can i plug a USB cable(Not-firewire) from the front panel of the computer case into the USB 1394 socket on the MOBO?

Thanks

OK. Those are all regular USB headers. Not dual purpose like I was expecting. They will only accept USB cables.
I think you are confusing 1394 (Firewire) with the numeric designation of the USB headers: 1314. USB 1314 simply means the header for USB ports 13 and 14. Just like the one next to it: USB 1112 (port 11 and 12). Just MB shorthand.

Yes, you can plug in any USB 2.0 cable into any of those USB headers.

Hi Clutch,

The motherboard is:SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 w/ DDR3, 7.1 Audio, Gigabit Lan, CrossFireX / SLI

I just looked up the manual online and it's on page 45.

http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM3+/SABERTOOTH_990FX_R2.0/E8042_SABERTOOTH_990FX_R2.pdf

I have two USB cables that's connected to the 4 USB slots(2 USB slots in each cable) in the front panel of the case.

I'm just not sure whether I can plug the other USB cable into the USB 1314?
There's a warning on page 45 of the manual that I can't plug a firewire cable into one of those USB slots.
