Can I plug ARGB fans directly into motherboard without using a controller (CM H500M)

Hey I have the Coolermaster H500M case and the Gigabyte Z390 Master motherboard.

The Coolermaster H500M come with a ARGB fan controller as seen in these two pictures one and two.

My motherboard has a Digital LED Header seen here.

I am wondering if I could just bypass the H500M controller and plug the ARGB cables directly into my Digital LED Header on my motherboard or do they require a controller to work?

The fans have 3-pin ARGB connectors. You can connect them directly to the motherboard's 5V 3-pin ARGB headers. Ensure that the header voltage is set to 5V and not 12V (page 31 in the motherboard's manual).
