I need to reformat my drive. Back when Windows 10 upgrade was still free I upgraded to it. I also made a backup copy of the upgrade on a disc. If I reformat my drive and install Windows 7 will I still be able to install the upgrade?
OK. Thanks. I didn't know if I actually had a Win10 license. I figured that I might have to pay for it this time since I paid for 7 but not 10. When it was still free (upgrade) I made a creation disc. I will try that.
No. Use teh media creation tool to create an upto date USB drive or DVD. THis will spare you some headaches.
download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB << don't need win 7. Better to use Win 10 installer as it likely to format drive differently to win 7.
To clarify, as stated above, you shoul skip 7 entirely. Your license is now a W10 license and is ties to your motherboard, so W10 will auto activate after the install(skip entering a key).
