Question Can I Replace a 0.27A Cooling Fan with a 0.4A Fan on My Laptop?

I have an Asus S400C laptop with a cooling fan that’s started making bearing noise. I went on eBay and bought a replacement based on the fan’s part number. However, when I was about to install it, I noticed the new fan has a different amperage rating than the original one.

The original fan is rated at DC 5V, 0.27A, while the new one is DC 5V, 0.4A. From what I understand, it might not be ideal to use a fan with a higher amperage, but I wanted to check with the community first before I return it and look for another one.

So my question is: Can I safely use a 0.4A fan in place of the original 0.27A fan on this laptop?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

I would replace the fan as is, with the right part/model/make. I see this;

when looking up S400C replacement fan, so you might've ordered the wrong fan or the seller had listed it improperly. I wouldn't want to burn the sole fan header on a laptop's motherboard if I were you. We also don't have a schematic to show us the power delivery on said header on the laptop, hence replace the fan like-for-like.
