Question Can i replace an laptop using eMMC harddrive with and SSD?

So a friend of mine has this HP Stream 14 laptop using eMMC 32 GB storage. He know wants to replace this eMMC harddrive with an faster SSD.
for what i have learned from searching the web, the EMMC technology is a flash based memory stuck onto the motherboard.
Is that correct?

So simply; Will it be possible for him to replace this eMMC harddrive and install an regular SSD?
What kind of cables is necesary for this procedure?
How will this affect his current Windows installation?
Is Windows just going to work as before, using and bootable USB and create a new bootable USB for his Windows installation?

I would be superhappy if someone here could provide me with the correct answers in order for me to arrange this installation.

Unfortunately, you are stuck with the eMMC. It is indeed soldered to the motherboard, and non upgradable or able to be switched to a standard SSD.

No. That eMMC is soldered directly to the motherboard.

Even if you were to CAREFULLY desolder it (you can't), the motherboard does not have the proper connections or firmware to use something else.

It is what it is. Live with it.

I have 2 such devices, ASUS Transformers. 1x 32GB and 1x 64GB eMMC. Both also have 256GB microSD cards as a D drive.
That are good for what they are....little travel devices.

Expect no more, and don't be disappointed when the "upgrade" potential is zero.
