Question Can I replace Motherboard in Dell Inspiron 3910 with something that will provide 2560x1440 resolution or better?

I am relatively illiterate as to hardware. Needed a high resolution monitor to do my job. Bought an LG with 2560x1440. It's great. Then when I needed a new computer I bought a Dell Inspiron 3910 thinking that it would function like my old computer, but the highest resolution that the new Dell supports is 1920x1080 and now I have a mess. I don't want to have to buy another computer as this has the i7 chip and otherwise is good for what I need. Any suggestions?

On the windows desktop, right clock and select display settings.
You should see an option for 2560 x 1440

It should support 4k@60Hz via Display Port.

What video cable are you using?

I emailed back and forth with their tech support and was told that 1920x1080 was the highest resolution that the motherboard in that model of Dell would support. Seemed odd to me but it doesn't have any connections but HDMI and USB.

Every time I turn the computer on it tells me (message on the monitor) that resolution should be set to 2560x1440. When I look at display in the Windows settings, the highest resolution listed is 1920x1080.
I have an HDMI cable. Don't know if there are varieties of that. The monitor has two HDMI ports, one says HDMI-1, the other says HDMI-2. I tried it in both ports. No difference. The old computer I had used a different style cable, two screws to hold it in and about 15 pins. This computer does not have a connector like that.

The stuff I got from Dell says: This package contains the Intel UHD and Iris Xe graphics driver for 11th generation Intel processors. That doesn't mean anything to me.

At one point I think the Dell rep said I have an Intel UHD Graphics 770, whatever that is.

Your monitor has 2x HDMI inputs and one Display Port input. Use Display Port with appropriate DP cable.

That is limitation for HDMI connection on your pc.
Display Port doesn't have this limitation.

As I am ignorant on hardware and terms, what is Display Port? The only connections on this box are various USB slots, the HDMI connector, connector for headphones and a slot for an SD chip.
