Can I run 4 ram sticks?

Currently I have 2 4gb sticks of ram in the black slots.
I would like to add 2 more 4gb sticks of ram. Is this possible? and if so; is there a preferred brand?

Yes it is possible but it is always always recommended to buy ram in matched sets (i.e 4 x 4GB) to guarantee compatibility.

In your case the least I would do is to get another kit of 2 x 4GB that is identical to what is currently installed; it will most likely work.


P.S this is not called 'dual boot' , in fact theres no such thing as dual booting the ram!

Thanks for the reply! The issue I am having is that my current ram is just a generic green ram. I know it's ddr3 2 x 4gbs, but there is no brand name of any kind on it, it's simply 2 green sticks of ram.

Huh, that's a bit odd. Aim for 1600MHz DDR3, as that might be the actual clock speed. DDR stands for double-data-rate so that's probably it.
