can i run a PCI 3.0 card in a PCI 2.0 slot

i want to buy a ASUS GTX750TI-OC-2GD5 GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 for my computer my motherboard has pci 3.0 but it only works with a FM2+ cpu and mine is only a FM2 cpu so it limits that slot to PCI2.0 and I was wondering if it would still work and if so will that drop performance because if so I do not want to waste 150$.

Yes a pci 3.0 card is backwards compatible the 750ti will run just aswell in the pci e 2.0 slot as the pci e 3.0. They are backwards compatible plus get a r9 270 for 139$ it plays bf4 ultra 50fps.
