Hey guys so I'm looking for a little bit of advice and product recommendations for my PC. I'm trying to game a little more on my PC. I just downloaded SNES emulators and have some retro controllers on the way. Currently I have my PC set up in my bedroom. I have a 34 inch ultrawide monitor that I adore. But I also have the option to use a display adapter on my GPU to hook up to my TV.

I'd like to know if there is a remote available that would allow me to start my PC from my bed and then choose my TV as its display so I can get my nostalgia on and game similar to a console? I've been looking on amazon and there are a ton of products that might accomplish this. I do see a remote available that connects to your motherboard and works as a wireless remote, and I then could use a wireless mini keyboard from my bed. But I'm wondering if there is a product that is an all in one solution?

Here's what I've been looking at.
https://www.amazon.com/SilverStone-...ld=1&keywords=PC+Remote&qid=1621959705&sr=8-4

https://www.amazon.com/PONYBRO-Wire...PC+Remote&qid=1621962055&s=electronics&sr=1-9

Not sure if this belongs in Gaming or Peripheral Section so mods feel free to move.

My specs:
3700x
MSI X570 Gaming Plus
EVGA 2060 KO Ultra
64GB Trident Z Ram 3200

Solution
Oh man you guys used a card for that?!
There's a cheaper and better solution -
Use a wifi plug / outlet
You can map it to your Alexa or Google Home, or use it via your phone as well.
In the BIOS you can change power mode after AC Loss to on, and then when the power switch is turned on, it turns on your pc.
Now definitely, when you shut down your pc, you dont shut off the power, so my solution is to just tap the power button on my phone twice, so itll turn it off then back on, which triggers turning it on.
OR,
you can tell google home or alexa to "turn my pc off, and turn my pc on" which luckily gives it enough spacing / lapse in power to turn it off and back on
been using it quite well since i got that trick down
i can in fact, use...
As you said....you can use this
SilverStone Tek 2.4G Wireless Power Remote
to turn it on. (that's pretty cool)

"and then choose my TV as its display "

If your GPU has at least two outputs....you can run one to the display....and one to the TV...and select that input on the TV with the TV remote. This is what I do when I want to see the PC on the TV.

Hey man finally got it installed. Just wanted to ask if you think it would be too obstructing for my GPU? It goes under the pci slot under the GPU. Havent encountered any issues yet. I do run a 92 mm right below for some extra air flow. Obviously I need to clean up the dust in there. Been a while since I opened it up.

Gotta say the remote start is pretty sweet though.

I think there's a good chance it's fine as it is.
I don't think it's blocking the airflow that much.
I would check the GPU temp just to be sure.
....and I don't think heat is going to hurt the "remote card" as it is.

Nice man thats a very cool way of doing it. Have to say I'm enjoying this remote install though. Its pretty neat to have that option.

Having been in low voltage all my life the first solution that came to my mind was a relay set on a remote. There (used to be) quite a few vendors that sold such kits as a way to set your house alarm in much the same way a car alarm works. It offered several sets of dry contact that were NO/NC and could do a variety of tasks.

Clap on!
Clap off!
.......😉

To be fair, doing that a lot would concern me from a corrupted Windows install sort of perspective.

Well, you still shut down your computer properly from the OS, and power is still supplied while it's off in case of charging any devices. Only when you want to turn it on do you cut the power and then power it on

Could your phone as a remote be more convenient though? More ubiquitous and one less remote to lose

Gotcha. Sounds like it would work well. Do you use a similar method?
Oh yes, using exactly this method with two PCs. It's basically a Wake on LAN without needing wired connection on the computer - in that it also allows me to wake up my computer if I'm on another network.
They both show up in my Google Home app, and I use my Google Home at home to turn them on by voice.

Doing that slow clap meme that I am too lazy to imbed.

You get +1 Interwebz.
