Can I take a computer part as carry on? on the plane?
I'm taking a GTX 960, I feel much safer bringing it as a carry on (I still have the box for it)
Will I get in trouble for taking it?

You should be able to, I took a gaming headset through Singapore airport to Australia with no questions asked. If you declare the product if needed and just tell them what it is there should be no problem. Just put it in your bag or carry on luggage and you should be fine.

Hi

Is this a new component or second hand?
Are you going to a different country ?

If going to a different country you will need to declare it on arrival and may have to pay import duty
It helps to have a copy of the original receipt which shows value & purchase date.
If it has been used don't clean the dust off it as this will show it is second hand/used

Often buying computer parts & software in USA is cheaper than price other countries until you are asked to pay import duty & tax
