Question Can I test "half a build" this way?

Hi all, I want to test a pc put together with some of mine and my sons old spare parts before I sell it.
It has no fans, storage or psu so I just need to see if it gets into the BIOS.
The only psu I have is in my new pc (Corsair RM650 Watt).
Can I just unplug the 8 pin CPU and 24 pin ATX Mobo cables from my new pc and put them into the the "half a pc" mobo to be tested or could there be problems?

If you do so, make sure you unhook any unused cables from your PC/PSU. You dont want the PSU mixing voltages between systems.
