I am upgrading my WIFI card in my computer, doing so I now have decided to redo my entire home network including my cable modem and router The WIFI card I plan to upgrade to is:

TP-Link AC1900
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TQEX7AQ/

Side note, if you think there is one better for my situation Im all for suggestions.

My current router is a:

ASUS RT-AC66U
https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-RT-AC66U-802-11ac-AiProtection-Optimization/dp/B008ABOJKS

My current cable modem is a:

Surfboard SB6141
https://www.amazon.com/ARRIS-SURFboard-SB6141-Certified-Packaging/dp/B00AJHDZSI/

Doing my speed test over wifi gives me these results:

Down: 97.45Mbps
Up: 3343Mbps

Note, this is when no other device is on the network. I changed the wifi password so everyone is kicked off but me. But at full capacity there are well over 20 devices on the network at once. Computers, tablets, cell phones and game consoles. We are a family of 5 with 3 teenagers who are online all the time and I work from home so I use the internet more than anyone.

My question is, is there a router and or cable modem that would be an upgrade to what I have now? Even if minimum, Im looking for a combination that can handle a lot of devices via wifi and provide fast access. I got money to blow, so no worries there.

And again, is the wifi card Im planning to purchase a good one to upgrade to? Also do you have a recommendation for wifi adapters for the laptops?

Hope this is the right forum for this. Thank you in advance!

I'm going to assume your upload speed is a typo, and you're not actually getting 3.3 Gbps up. What is the rated up/down speed you pay for from your ISP?

Upgrading your modem will likely make no difference. You may not see any improvement from a new router or wifi card either.

Whoops, sorry. Yeah its 33.43Mbps. According to the description the plan offers:

- Up to 300 Mbps download

- Up to 30 Mbps upload

I used this site to test my connection, if there is a better site or an app to get a more accurate reading, please let me know.

So no potential to handle "congestion" better? I mean the speed is there, but it drops a lot when all the devices are connected. I was just hoping something that could handle it better so I dont at least see a drop in my connection. I was looking at this router:

ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AC5300

Or this router:

ASUS T-AC88U

I really like the ASUS brand when it comes to routers. I tried others and had issues, ASUS has been rock solid for years now.

For my desktops the all use:

TP-Link Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Adapter (TL-WDN4800)
