With games being more and more demanding on systems, my pc falls short with todays games.

My current card is a asus gtx670 2gb OC and I'd like to upgrade it to a gtx 1070 8gb (either MSI or ASUS, still deciding)
But i wouldn't know if my CPU and MOBO are being bottlenecked by the new GPU.

Cpu: i7 3770k, not OC due to temp issue but installing a coolermaster v8 today in hope to resolve this issue.

Mobo: Asus PZ68-v gen3

Thanks in advance..

Solution

good, no reason to toss money getting a new one

you really should get a good 550w psu though

something tier 1 or 2 from this list...

the psu won't make much difference. His current GTX670 draws a max of 170w, with the GTX1070 only drawing 150w. He should be fine with his current PSU.

And as all other posters have said, your I73770k is an awesome CPU, still good for a few years, and will drive any high end card, and most SLI setups with no bottleneck.

MS-Tech Value Edition MS-N750-VAL Rev.B
I think it is this model.

Thank you, glad to hear this..
Need to OC it?

its not abt the wattage but abt the quality and how much efficient it is...even zebronics have 650w psu...

u can OC it if u want...but i m still not too confident abt that psu...specially for OCing...

Thanks for your answer.
What about my mobo?

Solution

as mentioned...no need for a new mobo...u can still keep this one and OC it...u can keep the psu too, but at ur risk...if u want a decent psu then this is a gud one...

I'll look into a new PSU, i had a corsair but it didn't fit in my casing and the computer store arround corner had this one laying arround, so i fitted this one in..
Good to point out this "flaw"
New PSU and gtx1070 it is then..

Thank you

i think your missing the point. If the PSU drives the GTX670 fine and without problems, then he WON'T have problems running the 1070. Common sense applies here.

What nonsense logic are you using? By your same logic a train engine should be able to drive a helicopter just fine because it has more than enough HP. WATTAGE IS NOT EVERYTHING

You should read some intro electrical engineering books to discover a little thing called a transient response

what kinda common sense r u applying here??? can u care to explain pls???
