the gpu is a xfx speedster merc310 7900 xtx black and psu is edit: 2018 model of corsair rm750x

No, you shouldn't be powering any high-end GPU like that. It's NOT recommended, and it is not advisable. If it asks for 3 8-pin PIN connectors, then please insert ALL the PCIE cables.

Why do you want to use only 2 PCIe cables ? Your PSU has 4 '6+2-pin' cables for any high-end GPU.

i had a lose connection on a GTX 980 and the monitor would keep giving me a no signal error when the connection wasn't solid. So same thing may happen here if you didn't have the connectors it needs. Even if it doesn't use the power.

I take it black edition doesn't have RGB so it shouldn't need extra for lighting, but I think it probably runs in the OC bios by standard which might ask for more power.
