So I recently just bought a 1050ti without realising that my psi didn't have a 6 pin connector I've heard that some 1050ti's can power just from the slot itself and that these cards are really efficient on power
My specs are i7 2600 non K
8gb ram
GTX 1050ti Asus strix oc addition
Antec classic power cp-550 Watts
So I was wondering if I could power the 1050ti from the motherboard and the connector and not start a fire. And I'm just guessing from the amount of power that the mb will be giving the GPU plus
The extra from the 4pin to 6pin the connector shouldn't get that hot and be pretty safe? Here are computer stuff https://m.imgur.com/a/9qj7ICl

Rule of thumb on the PSU, if it doesn't have the connectors for your devices/components, then that PSU should not be in use. I wouldn't power that GPU with an adapter, only leads to more headache and trouble in case the GPU is fried.

You're right there are some models that simply power off the PCI-E slot but if it's needing an additional power source, it's due to the fact that the GPU needs the extra juice, due to a factory overclock or higher power delivery module.
