Hey guys,

So far we have a combined modem/router on one end of the house. Everything plugged into it runs pretty well, but anything through wifi is pretty horrendous. We think its our internet, but are willing to test some things out.

We're going to be getting a powerline adapter, which has one ethernet port, for one of the rooms. Is there a way to connect another modem/router to the powerline and use it as a switch so we can connect 3 things into the powerline?

Thanks!

I suppose you can if you have the device laying around. A cheap switch is going to be less hassle. You want to disable the DHCP service on the router and make sure it does not use a conflicting ip on its lan interface. The lan ports on most device are connected internally to a small switch chip that has a internal connection to a router chip. You are in effect just using the switch chip.
