Can i use a Fan Splitter

Hi, I have a Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 with a fx 6300 and a stock heatsink and fan.

I don't seem to have another 3 or 4 pin connecter, I can't see or find one anyway, so Im wondering if a fan splitter in the port my CPU fan is in would run a case fan and my cpu fan? Im quite new to building computers so please go easy!

Your mobo spec says -

"1 x CPU Fan connector(s)
1 x Chassis Fan connector(s) "

So you should have one of each. Look in your mobo manual to find where it is.

Leave your CPU fan header just for the CPU fan. It will be a 4 pin connector and the speed is controlled based on CPU temperature.
You can use a splitter from one of the 3 pin system fan headers if you like.
Probably a better solution is to use a fan power connector from one of the molex power connections on your power supply (big 4 pin connectors) like this:

thats 1 port, just not too sure if a splitter would work with it, never tried anything like this before

The 4 pin is for the CPU. The 3 pin is for your case fans.

No, that's two connectors.
A 4 pin fan header for the CPU fan (PWM controlled) and a separate 3 pin fan head for the system fan.

The 4 pin is for the CPU. The 3 pin is for your case fans.

The adapter plugs into the molex power connector from your power supply and then the system fan can plug into the adapter.
Not necessary if you are only using one system fan as your motherboard will have a 3 pin fan header.
Aside from that, many cases come with a molex powered system fan or a molex to fan adapter is included.
