Yea it should be fine, not 100% sure because the memory support list is not updated. I just switched from my ssd to that exact one and I have an outdated asus prime h-310 plus, it also wasn't on the support list but it ended working just fine! Also samsung has a program where you can migrate data from your old ssd to your new one, you just have to have both plugged in so get an extra sata cable.

I’m considering getting a new SSD for my computer. I am looking into the Samsung 860 EVO MZ-N6E1T0BW m.2 disk. I want to make sure that it will work with my motherboard an Asus – Z97-PRO (WiFi) [ https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z97PROWiFi_ac/HelpDesk_Manual/ ] – and what I can boot Windows from it.

That does have an M.2 slot that accepts M.2 SATA drives, but I'd ask why do you want to do that. There is NO performance increase, all you get is space savings, meanwhile it costs more than the equivalent SATA drive.

The price difference is less than USD 10 in my country - and when I do not have to buy a 2,5" to 3,5" mounting kit.
