Can I use a USB monitor as primary (and only) monitor?

I am in the process of building a LAN party itx pc. However, I also need a portable monitor. Since I don't want to DIY one or spend 300$+ for one with hdmi/vga in, I would choose an external monitor that gets its signal over USB.

But does that work as primary monitor? I don't care if I don't get BIOS video, but it should work from the point on where I log in to windows. Does that work?

Video over USB3 is fine as a primary monitor.
