Im considering upgrading my cpu due to it not performing like i wish on certain games for example rust. I currently have a r5 7600x and im considering jumping to a r7 9800x3d as it would last a while. Im just not sure if its worth it or if i should wait for a new gen

Your system should be plenty for that old of a game. You are way beyond recommended system requirements.

Its not really worth it, even with a 9800X3D you would only gain about 15% performance in most games, and thats on the high end. I would wait another generation or two, have you tried tweaking any game settings for some better performance?

Yeah, Artk2219 is correct. The average frame rate will only go up by about 15%....and that's at 1080p. It will be even less at 1440p and practically even at 4k.

HOWEVER, from my own experience, when I moved from a 7600x to a 7800x3d, I noticed a HUGE improvement in game smoothness. So 1% lows are vastly improved. Pretty much all micro jittering is gone. This is with a 4080 super
