can i use core 2quad on zeus-60 motherboard ?

I have very old motherboard, zeus-70 lga 775 and i can't find any information about this motherboard. My question is , can i upgrade my cpu to core 2 quad?

Where this motherboard came from? Are you sure "Zeus" is the brand name, and not something else?

sounds like you may have an Samsung ZEUS-60 LGA775 Motherboard, they use to come with a E6300 or E6600 Duo Core 2 processor on them, as far as I can tell it has an INTEL 965 Chipset and handles DDR2 1066/800/667 memory.

I found this mobo come with c2d e6420 on my local hardware shop and i just want to upgrade the cpu to c2q q8400 because my c2d is not that good at gaming. So.... No hope ?

the E6420 is a 65Watt cpu, the Q8400 is a 95watt cpu, and who and what that zeus 60 motherboard TDP (how much watt it can handle), and we don't want to blow the motherboard by having a cpou over power draw on it.

now on the motherboard near the Ram slot, (see picture below) there should be labels. can you get a photo of it and post it here ?

If you did not understand that - you have the "best" CPU for your motherboard.

Socket 775 was "cool" more than ten years ago. Ditto for the chipset on your motherboard. If I was you, I would spurge the $17 for that c2q, and see how it works, with full understanding that this could be the end of your motherboard.

I made the full disclaimer that this motherboard might be a toast after that. In its current incarnation, it is not good for anything productive anyway.

you cannot mod a LGA775 socket to run LGA771 but I have heard, seen some cpu,usually xeon 771 modded (don't know which never looked into it) to run on an LGA 775. but I don't know from experience or hear say anyone that have achieved this.
