I have very old motherboard, zeus-70 lga 775 and i can't find any information about this motherboard. My question is , can i upgrade my cpu to core 2 quad?

sounds like you may have an Samsung ZEUS-60 LGA775 Motherboard, they use to come with a E6300 or E6600 Duo Core 2 processor on them, as far as I can tell it has an INTEL 965 Chipset and handles DDR2 1066/800/667 memory.

I found mention of someone using that board with an E8400 (http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3268458/games-lagging-good-cpu-upgrade.html)
I found mention this motherboard comes from Samsung Server computer called "ZSS108-N-SMB1" (https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Intel-Virtualization-Technology-Samsung-Zeus-60)
also found another mention it could be from a computer Samsung, model DB-Z60/Q180 (https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Supported-CPU-List)
last menmtion is form a Korean web site mentioning LG Electronic DB-Z60 (http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?from=ko&to=en&a=http%3A%2F%2Fitempage3.auction.co.kr%2FDetailView.aspx%3FItemNo%3DB488835826)

no one mentions anything bigger than E6300/6600/8300 sorry I am no further help.

well maybe there is, all I am saying is that the information is so old that there is nothing saying " yes or no"
what price is that Q8400 your thinking of getting for it ?

the E6420 is a 65Watt cpu, the Q8400 is a 95watt cpu, and who and what that zeus 60 motherboard TDP (how much watt it can handle), and we don't want to blow the motherboard by having a cpou over power draw on it.

now on the motherboard near the Ram slot, (see picture below) there should be labels. can you get a photo of it and post it here ?

i saw the q8400 online like $17

so the only way i can upgrade to c2q is upgrading my motherboard first ???
alright.. i'll save my money
and can you recommend me better cpu that compatible with my motherboard

If you did not understand that - you have the "best" CPU for your motherboard.

Socket 775 was "cool" more than ten years ago. Ditto for the chipset on your motherboard. If I was you, I would spurge the $17 for that c2q, and see how it works, with full understanding that this could be the end of your motherboard.

seriously? tell someone to get a 95w cpu knowing the TDP on that board is 65w, isn't the best or wisest suggestion one can make.

yes saving for a more modern motherboard, cpu and ram is a much better decision. when you see a board you like use this web site, it will help you decide the range cpu and ram you can use on it, thus making sure its optimal for the amount of money saved.

1.League of Legends Recommended Requirements
CPU SPEED: 3 GHz processor
RAM: 2 GB of RAM (4 GB of RAM for Windows Vista and higher)
VIDEO CARD: Nvidia GeForce 8800

you would meet those requirements. aside your GT 9400 video card being weak in power, but with low setting you may get away with it, unless you upgrade your video card as well

2. CS: GO Reccomended Requirements:
Intel CPU: Quad-Core Intel Core i5 @ 2.66GHz
RAM: 4 GB
NVidia GPU: NVidia GTX 500 or greater

your system does not meet the recommended requirements, but meets the minimum requirements, again expect low graphics settings

3. Paladins system requirements (minimum)
CPU: Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or Althon X2 2.7 GHz
RAM: 2 GB
VIDEO CARD: ATI Radeon 3870 or higher, Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or higher

you would meet those requirements. aside your GT 9400 video card being weak in power, but with low setting you may get away with it, unless you upgrade your video card as well

Overall, yes a duo core 2 Quad Q9400 or Q9650 on taht motherboard would keep things moving, with the 4gb of ram you have, but I suggest upghrading your video card a little GS8800 can be had for cheap or even a 5750 card from AMD would do the trick

Other of upgrade I suggest; Motherboard, CPU, Video card, then Ram

What country are you in ?

Thank you very much you are helping me a lot 😀
i'm from Indonesia

I made the full disclaimer that this motherboard might be a toast after that. In its current incarnation, it is not good for anything productive anyway.

hajidabyan50 asked: "which is better the Gigabyte GA-965-S3 or the Asus P5KPL/EPU?"

First the quick look at the specifications between the gigabyte motherboard : https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-965P-S3-rev-33#sp
and the ASUS motherboard :https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5KPLEPU/specifications/

I notice right away, the Gigabyte Motherboard can handle 8GB of ram versus the Asus 4GB of Ram, and the Gigabyte seems to have more Fan Header controllers on the motherboard, which will be important for your especially in the humid summer heat periods.

that would be my choice Gigabyte .

ok
and how about modding that motherboard into lga 771 and using xeon instead of c2q ?
