Can i use ddr3 and ddr3l in the same build

A buddy of mine has 8gb of ddr3 ram in his build and i have a spare 8gb stick of ddr3l that i want to give to him. Can he use both sticks together?

no , even ddr3 sticks cant be mixed.

Possibly.
All ram must use the same specs of speed voltage and cas.
Since the ddr3l is lower voltage, that might cause a problem unless the motherboard can cope.

I am not too optimistic, but since you have the part, go ahead and see if you can get it to work.
