can i use dvi to vga adapter for gpu

i want to buy an r9 270x but it only has dvi-i,dvi-d and hdmi and my monitor only supports vga so can i use a dvi to vga adapter by plugging it into the gpu dvi-i or dvi-d port and convert it to vga otherwise i have to buy whole new monitor and im on a bit of a budget

also on my motherboard website it sais"The DVI-D port does not support D-Sub connection by adapter" is that talking about the dvi-d port on the motherboard itself?


any help is greatly appreciated thanks in advance

a8 6600k apu
GA-F2A58M-HD2 motherboard
1tb hard drive
8 gb ram
stock cpu cooler
galaxy iii gaming case

You can use the adapter with the DVI-I port.
DVI-D carry digital only.

Yes, correct. Some cards do come with such adapter. Try looking for a card review. See what's included in the package.
