Can I use household items as sound dampening?

invest in a nice case and closed loop coolers for your gpu and cpu then you ll have a quite pc.

Another idea would be to get cable extensions that would let you move the computer into a closet where you could close the door and not hear it.

Don't put the PC in a closet and close the door. There isn't any ventilation, and this would just cause the PC to eventually overheat.

Lol, depends on the size of the closet. Never seen a computer in a cubbyhole in a desk? Computers are more resilient than you seem to be giving them credit for.

I have a Corsair h100i. It is just some of my fans in my case when im just on the internet i have their rpms at around 800 (2x Corsair sp120 for my rad 2x NZXT airflow 120 and 2x corsair af120s for the chassis)

I've seen lots of closets that become dumping spaces for everything. I agree that it depends on size of closet, but if you tend to pile everything in the closet, then maybe it's not the place to put the PC. I've seen PC's in desk cabinets. I've also seen pc's burn up in desk cabinets. Again in all depends on having good ventilation - no matter where the PC is. My recommendation is to not put it in the closet.

Since your system is loud on the internet then its probably a fan issue and everything is dirty in there and you should use a can of air on it maybe some alcohol swabs here and there and use the can of air on it again the reason i say to use alcohol is because it cleans well and evaporates easily ( you can use an air compressor but you'll want to have the tank drained a water filter and oil filter on the hose which requires way more work than necessary) if your computer is still making noise then you may want to upgrade some cooling features on your computer

If you do use the alcohol let it dry before use. The can of air should help but its not a guarantee.

I've seen pos computers in tight not well ventilated spaces. I've never seen someones rig in a tight space.

The whole closet bit has been taken a bit out of proportion. The suggestion is really that sometimes it can be a more practical solution to move the PC to another area and use extensions to bring the console back to the workplace. Making a computer quieter can incur some pretty large expenses, especially when the OP's machine is being described as not overly loud in the first place. Think outside the closet, or box, as it were. I can easily relate to overheating computers and well, most that I have seen overheat were happily doing so in an open, well ventilated area.
