[SOLVED] Can I use Mac OS X Lion as a UNIX OS?

Solution
OSX is Unix Based. It's BSD Unix with a different interface. So, if you're running Mac, you're running UNIX in a way.

Technically, you already are: Mac OS is certified UNIX under the hood!

If you're referring to Solaris, it should run in theory but I can't guarantee the Mac will take it. Once I tried to install Ubuntu on a Macbook, which appeared to go through but when it rebooted I just got a blank white screen with a flashing folder icon indicating no OS found -- the Linux boot loader GRUB wasn't successfully installed.
