Question Can I use my 5.25" internal Bluray drive externally using this adapter ?

I have one of the following drives (forgot which one):

WH14NS40

WH16NS40

I have also purchased this adapter from amazon:

SATA to USB 3.0 adapter

Notice that the power adapter is rated 12V/2A.

Can this adapter properly power my internal drive ? The manufacturer says that it cannot and that it is made to work with 3.5/2.5" HDD drives only...but some amazon reviews say that it can be used with an internal 5.25" drive ?!!!

but...there are many 5.25" enclosures on amazon that are rated 12V/2A...though some of them are rated 12V/3A.

Should I buy an extra 5.25" enclosure or does my USB adapter work ?

The power won't be an issue, the problem is going to be with the adapter showing anything connected as a hard drive. It's a firmware thing.

Can't speak about the LG drive but I used a similar USB 3.0 adapter with a 12V/2A wall adapter for my Lite-On DVD writer without problem, it's just a SATA drive like others.

Not sure if it will work or not, the power specs suggest that it probably would. However this one states that it does on the manufacturer website:

Sabrent are an American brand, I'd get that one.
