Can I use the cooler from my i7 3770k on my i7 7700k?

Like, do... do the bits match up? I understand thermal mass against thermal mass, held together by paste, that'll all be cool. But if the things hanging sideways, I'd wanna make damn sure it's clipped on solid. That's more my question here. Do the clips on an LGA 1155 socket match up with the clips for an LGA 1151 socket? I mean I'm probably gonna get a new cooler for it anyway, so I can use my 3770k as a basis for a second box, but it'd be nice to be able to use my new CPU a few weeks earlier, ya know? =)

Also bonus points, any advice for a decent 'not arm and a leg' cooler for the i7 3770k? That 50/50 might get into some 'light' overclocking. Are cheap watercooling units worth it? Or am I better off getting say a mid range air cooling unit? bla bla bla?

Cheers. <3 u bai.

Solution
180W+
cryorig R1 is 220W, H5 universal is 160W, H5 ultimate is 180W.

Comparing between brands is impossible, as they will measure differently. But that'll give you an idea of the sheer size of cooler that you need.

oh dude there's different watts of coolers? that is so cool to know they're graded that way. See that's why I love you guys, always teaching me stuff. <3

Well if it's gonna be running hot with my existing cooler, I won't see any sorta performance gain that I'm after. May as well just hold off upgrading until I can afford a new cooler. =)

And this wasn't a stock cooler, for the record, was an after market one, just not a 'fantastic' after market one. Think I paid like $30-$40 for it or something like that when my old one took a poop and died.

It worse than you think. Look at the package specifications section. This is why it runs hot, people think 91W, buy with some thermal overhead in mind, maybe 120-130W cooler (40-50% spare thermal capacity), but it needs 130W to run stock, never mind OC.

Oh wow dude, what sorta 'wattage' or whatever should I be looking for using with unoverclocked use? What you think for 'light' overclocking? In an Australian Climate? D=
