hi all,
i wanted to know: is it possible to use the onboard GPU with my ati radeon HD 4800 GPU?
I'm currently using the hd 4800. mainly i need it for gaming , but its giving me trouble - a lot.
and i wondered if i can use the onboard GPU all the time and when i play just to switch to the HD4800 ?

if it is possible, how should i do it? my mobo is DH55TC.

thanks in advance.

Solution
actually a flat no is incorrect--actually yes its possible depending on the motherboard i could do it with my 2600k and pz68-v pro gen3 motherboard

but possibly not with that motherboard
Using two video cards can be done as stated by mcnumpty23 but the hardware has to support it I do not think yours will. It is not as easy as just turning it on and off in the OS. In your situation if you could enable both GPU's at the same time with one monitor you would need to swap the cable back and forth on the case between the MB and the GPU to use which GPU you wanted to use at that time. Using the IGP and a GPU at the same time is more common in multi monitor configurations. Some of the AMD apus support a crossfire like setup when used with an AMD gpu.

mcnumpty is right there are a few boards with that feature, they are few and far between.

That said yours doesn't, and if you're having GPU issues I would say just buy a new one than do this. You could get one that is worlds better (like any HD 5000 series) for under 30 bucks, if you can't spend a lot.
