I have gotten really confused over this because I run the windows compatibility and it says windows 8 would run fine, but when I check with a "professional" apparently he says that the hardware is too old and I have to get a new computer with windows 8 to run windows 8.

Is my computer definitely compatible?

Also do you think you can tell me how to install it without a CD if it is compatible? Thanks.

Not a good idea.

Better of with windows 8.1 . Live with them for 8-9 months and then voila, win 10 for free (or so they say)

I was thinking of that, but it said when it was released you have to buy it

That is true, but if you would buy Windows 8 you might as well wait until April and buy Windows 10. I also heard Microsoft might make Windows 10 have a free version which would be a dramatic change in the PC world.

They said it would be free to windows 8.1 it will charge $30 for windows 7 and I am not sure about windows xp or vista
