Most likely no. It will bottleneck to much to really be worth it. What card specifically?

The memory standard of a graphics card has no direct relationship with motherboard support. That memory is directly used by the GPU alone. Since the card is PCI express and your board has a PCIe slot it should work.

Can you tell us what CPU you have and what model of card you wish to use to make sure they'll work well together?

My Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 @ 2.93 Ghz

Well it will all work, though going with too much more than that gt640 would be wasted since that older CPU couldn't keep up.
