I have a dell optiplex 390 minitower and i just got an rtx 3060. I have made a lot of changes to the computer but I kept the original optiplex 390 motherboard. My case fits the card and i previously had a gtx 750 ti, but im wondering if my gpu could be affected by the motherboard since it is a bit old and technology has changed alot since then. I am planning on changing the motherboard soon but can i use my rtx 3060 with it for the time being?

The RTX 3060 draws roughly 170W, so you should be OK if your PSU is capable of supplying 500W. Just make sure the PSU has a PCIe 12V cable to plug into the 3060. The card will not work if you don't have this cable.

Provided the 3060 fits in a PCIe slot, it should work. Ideally you need a PCI-Express 4.0 x16 interface on the mobo, but the card will still work in a PCI-Express 3.0 x16 or even a x8 slot.

You just lose speed if you run it in a PCie 3.0 slot, or a slot with fewer than 16 channels. If you don't run games or render videos, you probably won't notice half speed when the GPU is in a PCIe 3.0 slot.
