Solution Ecky Sep 9, 2016 Flip-chip, which all modern CPUs are (to my knowledge). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flip_chip Flip chip is the one that doesn't use wires, but instead places the silicon directly on the package, connects facing down.
