I recently had to buy a new monitor because my old old one died. I got a Dell 24" IPS HD 1920x1080, the whole nine yards.

My question is, since i installed the new monitor my graphics card is running real hot during gaming.

My old monitor was 1600x1050, something like that, it was old. Can the new display running the higher res in HD cause the card to run hotter?

The Card is a Nvidia GTX 275, not overclocked.

Idle temp or temp while surfing, typing to you 47c while gaming last night low 90's.

My case is an Antec 901 and there are two 120mm intake fans on the front. The upper one that intakes air is dead. I need to replace it. That upper fan is the one horizontal to the gpu. Can that one fan cause it to go that high while gaming.

I download EVGA Precision x, to up the fan speed to 75% on the gpu.

You may want to dust the inside of your case, heat sinks, and make sure your case fans are not impeded with clumps of dust bunnies.

I find a leaf blower works great, just don’t do it in the house, the wife frowns on the cloud of dust. I used to use a vacuum and a can of compressed air, then then one day I was like I'll just bring it down to the garage and use the leaf flower on it. By then it was the 3rd computer so didn't really matter if something went wrong. Anyhow every few months Leaf blow my computers.

Replace top fan.
.. ?? No rear fan, should get one.
.. Top fan, intake, should be Exhaust

You have two intake fans in front - YOU should therefore have a exaust fan so that the airflow in = airflow out. Make the top fan an Exhaust and add a rear fan that is also Exhaust.

And while fixing airflow, as others have indicated - clean it.

Yes, i do have the big exaust on top and a rear exaust. I was just mentioning that one of the front intakes needs replacing.
Thank you everyone for the advice, looks like i need to do some cleaning and get that front intake replaced. If that doesn't work maybe this is a good excuse to do an upgrade. Keep the case and 750W psu, and just upgrade the board, card, and chip, mem, etc.
