I have just set up a new desktop with wireless internet, i have tried troubleshooting it to be able to see what was the problem and all it said was that it couldn't connect to the DNS server, even though at the bottom right corner it still said it had a connection, I've tried everything on this thread http://www.pingzic.com/dns-server-is-not-responding-error/ but still no change, i'm not sure what else to do, the computer is running windows 8.1 pro and the specs are:
CPU: Pentium
Graphics Card: Radeon R7 250 OC
Motherboard: H110M-A (From Gigabyte)
It probably isn't a problem with the router because my laptop gets internet from the exact same place, along with the fact that when the PC does get wifi the internet goes off and on continuously. Still am very confused about what to do, any help?

If you open a command prompt window and ping the router gateway address, do you get a response?

Is your wireless configured to automatically obtain an IP address? In a command prompt window, type ipconfig and see what IP address is your gateway and the computer address. Are they in the same network?

Also take a look at THIS page and THIS page to see if they offer any help in checking your driver install.

I did get a response from pinging the gateway address, there where 2, the IPv6 and IPv4 im assuming pinging the 4?
It is configured to automatically obtain an IP address. The network and computer address have different IP's.

As you know if the wi-fi adapter is not assigned Dns addresses it means that when you type in a web address in your browser you will not be able to receive a webpage of any kind resulting in the error message within the browser.

The quickest way is to login to your home router, check that the DHCP option in the router is enabled.

And that the router it`s self has been assigned a Wan IP address.
Save the new changes in the router before you exit it`s setup menu.

Then restart the router or remove the power from it for about 5 seconds then re connect the power.
Give the router 30 to 60 seconds to boot.

After that reset the machine or pc sytem you have

And your done.
Internet and webpages will be accessible.

Yes the gateway router address and the computer are different but are they in the same network range?

What are the addresses? For example, if the gateway is 192.168.0.1 the computer IP address should be in the range of 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254.

If that is the case (you have proper addresses), then I would just use the Google public DNS servers at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 instead of those that your ISP provides.

The addresses are
Gateway: 10.0.0.1
Computer: 10.0.0.18

The DHCP option is enabled already as has been, and the router does have an IP address, so it's none of that, i've even restarted the router and that wasn't the problem at all, because my problem still continued.

Have you checked if you have a IP address assigned to the system that is within the Dhcp of the router.
Check what the subnet address is also set to in your router.

And see if the network adapter was also assigned the same subnet address.

If you have a wi-fi connection that keeps disconnecting from your router.
Set the wi-fi network transmission speed in the router setup to a lower speed setting.

In fact it could be the whole reason why the Dhcp configuration is not setup correctly with the adapter due to the fact the adapter cannot work with the speed set for wireless devices.

Lower the setting.
Restart your laptop connect to the wi-fi.

The google thing worked for a couple of minutes than just stopped working and didn't connect at all even after the connection was there

The subnet is the same for both and so is everything else and how would i lower it?

Yup those are fine.

You mentioned an access point, do you mean the router or do you have a separate access point?

Just a router, also it has become where its working for a while and just stops after so then i have to reconnect to make the internet work again
