[SOLVED] Can only get 120hz on 144hz monitor

i got a Samsung cfg 73 last month but i can only get 120hz thru windows and thru the monitor settings, my gpu is a gtx 760 on which i use the latest drivers
i'm using the hdmi cable that came with the monitor, i tried to get 144hz with another hdmi cable but still stuck at 120hz and i also tried to use displayport but for some reason the screen was completely black or sometimes was showing only the taskbar or sometimes the full screen but it had weird artifacts and the screen was constantly turning off and on
i can give more information if needed

The C24FG73 is limited to 120 Hz over HDMI, as noted in the manual.
