My case has 4 preinstalled fans wired to a hub that is powered by sata. Can the speed of these fans be controlled? I have a msi motherboard, and in the bios, I have the option to set a speed curve for them. But I am not sure whether the curves will work.

bios controls the fans that are using the mother board fan headers . where you buy a pc with fans connected to a sata hub sounds so strange to me hehe. i would replace the fans with some better ones and use the mother boards fan headers that way could have more control over them.

could you take a picture of the hub that the fans are connected too ?

pwm on a fan just means it has a extra wire (signal) making it 4 instead of 3. pwm stands for pulse width modulation lets a mother board control the speed of the fan . were as the 3 pin fan has no signal wire so it basically goes at 5 v or 12 v making its speed non controllable unless the mother board supports voltage controlling. sata direct current unless the hub is connected by some thing to the mother board or usb or some thing i would think it just runs them at a set speed
