I am a 3D artist, and I have 2 PC’s I use for rendering. The main PC has a 2080TI and the second PC has x2 1080TI.
The render engine I use doesn’t support network rendering currently and I can’t install Deadline (a render distribution software)
I know you can buy external enclosures for GPUs to connect to your PC. I was wondering if its possible to connect a cable between these 2 PC’s and have one recognize the other as external GPU’s?

My specs are
What are the parts you are now running?
Could you use a server motherboard that supports many pcie slots for your graphics cards.
My specs are:
AMD threadripper
Zenneth 2 Motherboard
2080TI
128gb Ram

second PC has x2 1080Ti

I am not too sure if that would work just due to my own ignorance. I would happily give it a try though if I knew a bit more about the setup

Why two computers?

I am no expert on workstations and server motherboards.
You are better situated to evaluate what you need.

But, if your apps are can make use of many graphics cards, there are server motherboards like this:
https://www.newegg.com/supermicro-m...pro-3000wx-series-processor/p/N82E16813183726

Puget systems seems to be an expert on this, check out what they have to say if your apps are relevant.

Thanks! i Basically have a work PC and a personal PC at home. i'm not allowed to tinker with the work PC as it belongs to the company and they get weird about it. it would just be very easy if i could of plugged a cable into it. Thanks for the answers!
